Erin Shields ist kanadische Dramatikerin und besonders für ihre radikalen Adaptionen von klassischen Texten bekannt, die vernachlässigte Frauenfiguren ins Zentrum stellt. Sie studierte Englischsprachige Literatur in Toronto und Schauspiel in London. Im Jahr 2026 konnte sie sechs Uraufführungen ihrer Stücke feiern: You, Always (Canadian Stage), Mary, Mary, Mary, Mary (Crow’s Theatre), Medusa (Soulpepper/Outside the March), To a Flame (1s1/Nightwood), The Great Gatsby (Citadel/RMTC/The Grand) and All’s Well (Crow’s). Ihr Portfolio beinhaltet außerden Stücke wie Ransacking Troy, Thy Woman’s Weeds, Much Ado About Nothing, Queen Goneril, Paradise Lost, Jane Eyre, Piaf/Dietrich, Beautiful Man, The Lady from the Sea and If We Were Birds. Shields erhielt für ihre Werke viele Preise, unter anderem den Montreal English Theatre Award for Outstanding New Text 2016/17 für Instant und den Writing Federation of Quebec Prize for Playwiriting im Jahr 2018 für Paradise Lost, sowie im Jahr 2022 für The Millenial Malcontent.
